Abstract

The research analyzed the incidence of domestic violence related to the difficulty in establishing social ties in adolescents within the educational environment. The emotional and social effects derived from exposure to various types of violence, such as psychological, emotional and physical, in adolescents were addressed. A mixed approach (qualitative- quantitative) was used, where questionnaires were applied to psychology professionals working in Student Counseling Departments. The importance of our study is relevant because it shows how domestic violence affects the socio-emotional development of adolescents, generating consequences such as low self-esteem, anxiety and social isolation. In addition, it highlights the role of educational and family institutions in mitigating these effects and in promoting safe and supportive environments. The main objective was to analyze how domestic violence affects the ability of adolescents to establish positive interpersonal relationships in the educational environment. The results highlighted that domestic violence impacts the development and construction of social and emotional skills, generating conflicts in adolescents regarding low self- esteem, anxiety and isolation. Thus, it was evident that safe spaces and support are sought for the affected adolescent within educational institutions and within the home.
