Abstract

Playita Mia is a documentary that seeks to explore the daily work of the Cholo people on the Manabi coast. A celebration of the customs and cultural relevance of these activities. It offers a window into their ways of life, dialect and the relationship they have with nature, especially the sea. A choral story that records the diversity of coastal profiles, in a journey that begins with the fishermen of an artisanal port in Manta, passing through the process of making toquilla straw, to the commercial activity in the artisanal markets. Told not only through the people, but through the natural landscapes that form an intrinsic part of their cultural identities.
