Abstract

This project proposes to transform an abandoned infrastructure through the extension of slabs and the incorporation of laminated wood housing modules, creating a collective housing in downtown Guayaquil. The initiative is part of the planned revitalization by the Research Laboratory of Panama Street, using the intervention in pre-existing buildings as the focus method. The intervention in underutilized buildings aims to repurpose the infrastructure, generating significant cost savings compared to constructions from scratch. Various units of social and private housing are proposed to meet the needs of students, families, and tourists. Additionally, services and common spaces are included to foster collective interaction among residents. The project not only addresses the housing deficit in the city center but also aims to establish a replicable model for the future, offering new ways of living that can serve as a reference for similar interventions.
