Efecto de la pandemia del Covid-19 en el sector laboral ecuatoriano : protección de los derechos laborales.

Abstract

In the history of Ecuador, there were several crises that affected different sectors of society, the most recent being the COVID 19 pandemic. In the present work, the post-pandemic effects in the Ecuadorian labor sector are analyzed, by determining the protection of labor rights during the pandemic and the implementation of new modalities such as teleworking. A documentary investigation was carried out, reviewing statistical data from government entities such as the Ministry of Labor, with its employment reports in Ecuador, for the years 2019, 2020, and 2021. Through the graphs, different employment and unemployment figures are shown before during and post pandemic. This work determines whether labor rights in the health crisis underwent any adjustment or significant change in their regulations, or on the contrary were fully respected; This also indicates its validity today. The investigation determined that the year 2020 was the period of greatest change in the Ecuadorian labor sector, with an unemployment rate of -25%, an increase of % in the closure of companies, a % of the population with teleworking, and an implementation % of emerging contracts. It is concluded that these changes are a reflection of the health crisis that the country and the entire world experienced due to the SAR virus and that until the present year 2023 the changes executed by the health emergency remain in force.
