Abstract

The present work contains a reception center for retirees in Machala, Ecuador as a response to the historical debt of the government towards retirees and the need of this collective to have its own space to carry out its activities. The project is based on the idea of promoting active ageing for pensioners without giving a new focus to this stage. Active aging is based on 4 points: cognitive development, physical development, development of interpersonal relationships and a correct diet, These four axes are developed architecturally through a set of functional, formal, structural and bioclimatic strategies that formally shape the project as well as the terrain and context where it will be located, all the above-mentioned factors will allow the enrichment of the basic architectural programme provided by the user in order to arrive at a project solution that will provide retirees with the greatest possible number of spatial opportunities
