Nivel de conocimiento sobre manifestaciones orales asociadas a COVID 19 en estudiantes de odontología de la UCSG.

Abstract

Introduction: COVID 19 is caused by SARS CoV 2, as the oral mucosa is an initial site of entry for the causal agent, the main clinical manifestations between signs and symptoms produced are oral such as dry mouth and ulcerative lesions, these being considered early symptoms of COVID 19. Know ing the level of knowledge that dentistry students have would help them to suggest good recommendations regarding hygiene control, since it is the responsibility of the dentist or future dentist to guide patients in the care, they should have with their or al cavity in the case they have this virus. Objective: To assess the knowledge that students from the 6th to 9th cycle of the Dentistry career have about the oral manifestations associated with COVID 19. Materials and methods: The present study is of a cro ss sectional descriptive type that consisted in the elaboration of a survey, in which a universe of 222 students from the sixth to the ninth cycle of the Dentistry career of the Santiago de Guayaquil Catholic University was included. which a sample of 60 s urveys was obtained. Results: According to the knowledge that students have when dividing them by variables in the first variable they have a level of knowledge of 53% in the second 7 5%, in the third 54%, in the fourth 49% and in the last variable 53%. Conclusion: Students have a medium level of knowledge on this subject when evaluated in the parameters established in this research.
