Gestión y análisis de datos de estudiantes del Instituto Superior Pedagógico Intercultural Bilingüe “Canelos” con el uso de la herramienta Pentaho (Big Data).

Abstract

Currently, the large volumes of data generated by institutions have created new challenges that are supported by ICTs for the management and analysis of information. The objective of this research was to carry out the management and analysis of student data at the "Canelos" Bilingual Intercultural Higher Pedagogical Institute, with the use of the Pentaho (Big Data) tool. Inductive, deductive and hypothetical-deductive methods were applied with documentary and field research. The characterization of the software allowed to determine the components, products, architecture, advantages and functionality. The reflex situational diagnosis that is currently carried out manually in the management of information about students. Subsequently, based on the characterization and diagnosis, the proposal for the management and analysis of information was developed with the use of Pentaho, which allowed the creation of information (tables and graphs) about students, payments, enrollment, and others. Finally, the validation of the proposal revealed that administrators consider the use of the new reports very important to streamline processes and performance, improve productivity and ease of use. In conclusion, the designed proposal will allow information that can be used by educational managers as a basis for decision-making in an analytical and progressive manner in the academic environment.
