Incidencia de las políticas de Estados Unidos en la economía ecuatoriana periodo 1990 - 2025.

Abstract

This research explains the impact of US trade policies on the Ecuadorian economy during the period 1990–2025. This study is based on several relevant theories, such as David Ricardo's theory of comparative advantage, ECLAC's structuralism, and the product life cycle. A quantitative and descriptive approach was used, utilizing macroeconomic data from the BCE, the IMF, and the World Uncertainty Index (WUI). Therefore, a VAR (vector autoregression) model was used to observe the relationship between the WUI and the dependent variables. It was concluded, through the VAR, that trade policies and uncertainty from the US significantly and primarily negatively impact the Ecuadorian economy, thus clarifying the asymmetric nature of the interdependence between these two nations.
