Estado funcional de los pacientes con problemas cardiológicos que asisten a la consulta cardiológica de un hospital de Guayaquil, año 2024.

Abstract

Heart failure is a prevalent clinical condition that significantly affects patients' quality of life and their ability to perform daily activities. OBJECTIVE: To determine the functional status of patients with heart failure admitted to the cardiology department of a hospital in Guayaquil in 2024. METHODOLOGY: Descriptive, quantitative, prospective, cross-sectional study. POPULATION: 120 patients with heart failure attending a hospital in the city of Guayaquil. TECHNIQUE: Survey. INSTRUMENT: Barthel Index and MOS. RESULTS: 26.67% are between 46 and 55 years old, 55% are female, 33.33% are married, 40.83% have completed secondary school, 31.70% work independently, 45% make a basic salary, 99% have a cardiac pathology, 47.90% have been diagnosed for less than 5 years, more than 50% have social support, and the average Barthel index is 57.42, so the level of dependence is moderate. CONCLUSION: In the study conducted, 55% of the participants are female, therefore, it is presumed that the functional status of the patients in the study is moderately dependent.
