Abstract

Domestic violence is a major issue that significantly affects the development and well-being of children and adolescents (NNA). This study examines its impact on families attending the external center of the Ayllu Huarmicuna Foundation in Orellana, Coca. It investigates how this problem influences the psychological, emotional and social development of NNA, providing both academic knowledge and practical solutions. The methodology adopted a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design, exploring the experiences of four mothers (three Shuar and one Colona) and two caregivers. Their children exhibit academic difficulties, aggressive behavior, and problems in their interpersonal relationships. It is concluded that domestic violence leaves deep scars, making early intervention essential, including the aggressor and strengthening institutional networks for family support. Furthermore, the key role of Social Workers in educational institutions, alongside Psychologists, is highlighted to detect and address these issues promptly, fostering safe and healthy environments for NNA and their families.
