| Abstract: | INTRODUCTION: Dental aesthetics significantly influence the psychosocial impact of oral health, affecting self-esteem, social interaction, and quality of life. It is linked to personality traits, cultural and socioeconomic factors such as educational level, monthly income, and dental visits. OBJECTIVE: To determine the psychosocial impact of dental aesthetics in patients at the UCSG Dental Clinic B-2024 using the PIDAQ questionnaire. MATERIALS AND METHODS: An observational, analytical, and cross-sectional study was conducted with a sample of 92 patients treated between October 2024 and February 2025. RESULTS: A significant relationship was found between age and the psychosocial impact of dental aesthetics (p-value = 0.018), observed in the age ranges of 25-40, 41-60, and 61-70 years. In contrast, gender showed no significant association (p-value = 0.108), nor did educational level (p-value = 0.075), income level (p-value = 0.096), or the last dental visit (p value = 0.191). CONCLUSION: Age significantly influences the perception of the psychosocial impact of dental aesthetics. The absence of significant associations with gender, educational level, income, and dental visits suggests that other factors, beyond sociodemographic aspects, may influence this perception. |
| Description: | INTRODUCCIÓN: La estética dental influye significativamente en el impacto psicosocial de la salud dental, afectando la autoestima, interacción social y calidad de vida. Está vinculada a aspectos de la personalidad, factores culturales y socioeconómicos, como el nivel educativo, ingresos mensuales y visitas al odontólogo. OBJETIVO: Determinar el impacto psicosocial de la estética dental en pacientes de la clínica odontológica UCSG B-2024 según el cuestionario PIDAQ. MATERIALES Y MÉTODOS: Se realizó un estudio observacional, analítico y transversal con una muestra de 92 pacientes atendidos entre octubre de 2024 y febrero de 2025. RESULTADOS: Se encontró una relación significativa entre edad y el impacto psicosocial de la estética dental (Valor-p = 0,018), observándose en los rangos de 25-40, 41- 60 y 61-70 años. En cambio, el género no presentó una asociación significativa (Valor-p = 0,108), al igual que el nivel educativo (Valor-p = 0,075), nivel de ingresos (Valor-p = 0,096) y última visita al odontólogo (Valor-p = 0,191). CONCLUSIÓN: La edad influye significativamente en la percepción del impacto psicosocial de la estética dental. La ausencia de asociaciones significativas con el género, nivel educativo, ingresos y visitas al odontólogo sugiere que otros factores, además de los sociodemográficos, podrían influir en esta percepción. |
