Abstract

This professional application project develops a special episode for the podcast Sigo en Pie, aiming to raise awareness about gender-based violence in Guayaquil. Despite public policies and campaigns, violence continues to affect many women. The lack of access to support resources and the revictimization in the media worsen the situation, perpetuating the problem. The project seeks to design a podcast that informs about the causes, consequences, and solutions of gender-based violence. It also analyzes the impact on victims' mental health, studies the availability of podcasts on the topic, and defines the audience profile to maximize its reach. The research follows a socio-critical approach, combining qualitative and quantitative methods. Surveys were conducted with victims, interviews were held with experts in psychology and social work, and an analysis was carried out on how the media addresses the issue in podcasts. Additionally, an empathy map was used to understand the audience’s needs. The results identified the main barriers women face when reporting violence, including fear of retaliation and lack of trust in the judicial system. Furthermore, the need to create content that, instead of revictimizing, provides clear information and testimonies that help understand the severity of the problem was highlighted.
