Uso de plasma sanguíneo en la terapia de úlceras corneales de mascotas atendidas en una veterinaria de la ciudad de Guayaquil.

Abstract

One of the most common lesions in small animals are corneal ulcers, this pathology is characterized by affecting the integrity and function of the cornea and part of the stroma, if not treated early can affect the visual capacity of the animal. Nowadays, regenerative medicine offers the use of blood plasma (autologous serum) as an important therapeutic tool to help healing and accelerate tissue regeneration in a natural way. In this research we evaluated the effectiveness of autologous serum as a therapy for corneal ulcers in 85 pets including felines and canines, with different breed, age and sex that came to consultation in a veterinary clinic in the city of GuayaquilEcuador, where the research came to a conclusion that patients who used autologous serum as therapy for corneal ulcers if it was effective with 99 % in the regeneration of the cornea of the 85 affected patients.
