Abstract

Current public policies in the communities of Sacha, Coca Shushufindi, and Lago Agrio are having a negative impact on the overall health of their inhabitants. The oil exploitation in the region has caused severe environmental contamination that is directly affecting people's health. Oncology patients in these communities are not receiving the necessary medical attention and treatments, putting their lives at risk and violating their rights to health and human dignity. This situation highlights a clear lack of social justice and equity in access to adequate health services. The human rights of these communities are being violated, as they are denied the right to live in a healthy environment and receive the necessary medical attention to face serious illnesses such as cancer. It is urgent to implement public policies that prioritize the integral health of the communities affected by oil exploitation. These policies should guarantee access to quality healthcare services, protection of the environment, and promotion of social justice, equity, and human dignity. Only by doing so can we reverse the devastating effects currently faced by these communities and ensure respect for their fundamental rights.
