Factores que ocasionan el fracaso de las coronas definitivas en pacientes atendidos en la UCSG 2017-2021.

Abstract

Introduction: Failures of fixed prostheses can be complex in terms of both diagnosis and treatment. The goals of fixed prosthesis treatment include preservation or improvement of tissue structure, oral functions, and esthetics. Objective: to identify the factors that cause the failure of definitive crowns in patients treated at the UCSG 2017-2021. Materials and methods: The research is qualitative-quantitative and descriptive-analytical in design. The universe consisted of 40 patients treated at the dental clinic of the Catholic University of Santiago de Guayaquil 2017-2021. And the sample of 27. Analysis and discussion of results: The patients attended were 53.57% female and 46.63% male. 75.00% of the patients did not go to regular dental visits. The frequency of brushing was 67.86% twice a day, while the use of string was 60.71%, on the contrary, 57.14% did not use mouthwash. The affectations of the most relevant piece were recurrent cavities with 46.43%, while the structure was affected by invoices in 32.14%. Conclusion: It was found that more than 40% of the patients presented recurrent caries in the treated teeth, on the other hand, 75% of the patients have not made any dental visit after the delivery of the final crown, it is important to highlight these data because there may be a relationship between the lack of control and the appearance of caries, in addition, many of them (32.14%) presented fractures in the structure of the crown.
