Secuelas de cáncer hematológico en niños y adolescentes: análisis fisioterapéutico.

Abstract

Childhood cancer survivors need medical follow-up for the rest of their lives due to the risk of disease-related complications and treatment sequelae; even, many years after having begun its remission. Objective: Analyze the physical sequels and life quality of child and teens survivals with hematologic cancer. Materials and methods: With a quantitative focus, descriptive alcance and non-experimental cross-sectional design, a population sample of 143 patients of both sexes from 5 to 18 years. Results: The male sex predominates with 54.55% and the average age was 12 years, with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia with the highest incidence with 47% of the study group; presented as sequelae muscle deficit having a minimum result in dynamometry of 9.2kg on the left side, predominance of high fatigue in 39% where they present interference when performing activities, prominent abdomen was present in 40% of patients with postural changes and little activity physical where they barely do 2 days of intense activity with 54.48%. Conclusion: From the physiotherapeutic point of view, it was evidenced that the physical sequels are related to the type of cancer, treatment, and duration where alterations occur that decrease functionality and impact quality of life.
