Prevalencia de varicocele en pacientes de la carrera militar desde el 2015 hasta el 2020 del HOSNAG.

Abstract

Varicocele is a well-known and highly prevalent medical problem in young recruits pursuing a military career. Even so, there are many questions regarding its handling. This disease is considered one of the reasons that leads to infertility. However, it is treated by surgical intervention and delaying the operation of the military exercise. The objective of the study is to describe the prevalence of varicocele in patients who attend the military career from 2015 to 2020 of HOSNAG. It is a retrospective, descriptive study of 200 medical records of patients from the military career diagnosed with varicocele. The main results showed that the male population prevails mainly in age groups from 30 to 40 years in 24.5%, followed by adults between 41 to 50 years in 19.5%. The main complications were represented by pain, specifically in the left scrotal region with 96 cases (48.0%), followed by hydrocele 12.5% and pain in the right scrotal region 0.5%. The main treatment of choice was represented by the surgical method, by left Varicocelectomy 70.0%, followed by bilateral Varicocelectomy in 29.0% Right Varicocelectomy 1.0%. Varicocele is a pathology that causes primary and secondary infertility, with a significant incidence within the male population, so it is important to know how to identify it and treat it correctly.
