Análisis de la relación en la rentabilidad de la industria del aceite comestible con las demás industrias del sector de alimentos en el Ecuador en el periodo 2017-2021.

Abstract

The purpose of this work was to identify the degree of relationship that exists in the different food industries that make up the food manufacturing sector in Ecuador. For this purpose, the business data available in the Superintendence of Companies of Ecuador was collected. In addition, a correlation study based on Pearson's correlation coefficient was carried out to determine the degrees of relationship in the profitability of the industries studied. Thus, tools such as the SPSS statistical software and the Excel program were used to facilitate the tabulation and analysis of the data. On the other hand, the literature described the business size, the level of indebtedness, the level of inventories, the market power exerted by the company, liquidity, and the line of business as the main factors that determine business profitability. In this context, the profitability of the Ecuadorian edible oil production industry was analyzed. In this sense, it was found that this industry has the second worst profitability of all other food industries. In this way, the edible oil producing industry had an average ROA profitability of 0.62% and an average ROE profitability of 2.07% during the period between 2017 and 2021. In conclusion, it was found that the edible oil producing industry had a very strong and positive relationship (statistically significant) with the sugar industry in both ROA and ROE profitability. In short, the industry that produces edible oils also presented a very strong and negative relationship (statistically significant) with the manufacturing industry of fruits and vegetables in ROE profitability
