Abstract

This integrative project, located in the Ciudadela El Recreo, aimed to design the interior spaces of the "Family House for children and young people at risk in the canton of Durán". The proposal is based on the architectural project of the degree work of Arq. Daniel Duque Claros. This proposal arose due to the need to create a shelter that serves as a housing space for homeless children and youth and become a humanitarian shelter in the face of the vulnerability of the sector. To carry out the interior design project, the qualitative methodology and the project were used. Interviews were conducted with people who contributed their knowledge about the needs and activities of a shelter. Also, the analysis of the plans was made, the spaces to intervene were determined and also those that would not be intervened. Some existing typologies were studied that served as references to the proposal. Then, the objectives were drawn to create functional, welcoming and aesthetic interior spaces that provide users with safe environments and a better quality of life. The design criteria were determined to be applied in the intervened spaces such as the type 1 and 2 department, recreational areas and green areas. The proposal includes the design of four furniture belonging to these environments, as well as the design of two gardens located on the ground floor. The project is aimed at providing balanced spaces that favor the union of children and youth and, at the same time, encourage recreational activities, the development of the sense of community and responsibility in users. It is important to note that the project complies with biosecurity regulations and distancing from Covid-19.
