Análisis del discurso de los medios GK y El Universo sobre los inmigrantes venezolanos.

Abstract

The journalistic pieces that are built in media are not objective, but a representation of reality interpreted by the journalist who wrote it and filtered by the media. The media, as constructors of reality, influence the perception that society has of a group of people. Since the massive arrival of Venezuelan immigrants began, Ecuador has received approximately 400,000 immigrants who often face a precarious situation and are prone to discrimination. This research consists of analyzing the discourse of the journalistic pieces published in GK and El Universo on their websites about Venezuelan immigrants. It was concluded that GK exerts the counterpower, while El Universo maintains a hidden xenophobia. The latter is usually the most common case at a general level, since migrants are associated with a negative frame. For this reason, it is recommended to use a rights approach, to emphasize the context, to avoid sensationalism and for journalists to receive adequate preparation to communicate the issue.
