Prevalencia de los tumores venéreos transmisibles TVT en caninos rescatados en un refugio de la zona norte, de la ciudad de Guayaquil.

Abstract

The investigation “Prevalence of TVT transmissible venereal tumors in canines rescued in a shelter in the northern part of the city of Guayaquil”, has been considered because in our community there are a large number of dogs that roam the streets, becoming a focus of the spread of communicable diseases among the same species. TVTs are a type of neoplasm or tumors that usually affect abandoned dogs, affecting the mucous membranes and especially the genital organs. The objective of the study is to determine the prevalence of TVT in canines rescued in a shelter in the north of the city of Guayaquil, taking into account that there are few investigations that deal with diseases that affect abandoned and rescued dogs. The research is of a non-experimental, descriptive and correlational observational type, where a visual and physical inspection of the dogs that present the symptoms of TVT will be carried out by simple inspection in search of macroscopic characteristics of the tumor. It is proposed to carry out anamnesis, inspection, observation, palpation, percussion and auscultation, so that with the data collected and recorded in a clinical file, the prevalence of dogs from the “Happy Puppy Tail” shelter, in the northern area of the city of Guayaquil, according to the age, breed, sex and location on the body of the affected dog. As a conclusion, we have that this affectation affects males and females in the same way, but that they are more prevalent in dogs without an owner or with little care, due to what was found in the investigations that generally affect mongrel dogs. In addition, it was concluded that this neoplasm affects the genitalia of the animal in a higher percentage without also ruling out extra genital involvement and severe cases of metastasis in some uncontrolled cases.
