La carta democrática interamericana : factores que imposibilitan su aplicación y mecanismos de defensa.

Abstract

The purpose of this degree work is to carry out a study and analysis of the Inter-American Democratic Charter. The Inter-American Democratic Charter is a document created by the Member States of the OAS, with the purpose of strengthening and protecting democracy in the countries of the continent, being recognized as a milestone in the history of the region because it is the first document that it offers true defense mechanisms for the fight against the dictatorial mechanisms that had been established in various countries of the Americas, promoting -mainly- representative democracy. The Charter represents a great step in the conquest of rights, since it recognizes democracy as a fundamental right for the development of peoples and their citizens in a particular way. However, this component has some irregularities and weaknesses. Thus, it will be analyzed on which occasions its application is impossible, which are its defense mechanisms and the recommendations that within the framework of international law are possible to apply.
