Abstract

The purpose of this essay is to analyze the reality of Ecuadorian cinematography, in terms of its commercial aspect and the determination of the main obstacles to the development of a film making artistic activity that is economically profitable and sustainable. First, we start from a documentary review of the development of film production in Latin America from its beginnings to the present time, including the case, Ecuador. Then, we check the strategies and initiatives that have taken place in the region to promote the production of films at the local level and from this collection of information, and also, the addition of interviews with experts related to the film environment, a series of mechanisms that could be applied in the future are outlined in Ecuador to boost its level of film production and impact on the market.
