Abstract

This written report reveals the critical situation in the country due to the high rate of teenage pregnancy in girls between 10 and 19 years of age. According to the United Nations Population Fund, Ecuador occupies the first place of youth pregnancy. The current government officials with the different ministries have created awareness programs, from 2007 to the present to prevent early pregnancy. However, they have not had positive results even with all their efforts. The situation becomes complicated when, it is evident the health problem that the country is experiencing and which overall affects the economy. Most of today’s youth stop attending school to focus on the task of being mothers and wives. In some cases they do not have support from their families and immediately seek shelter and help from foundations, in order to survive and excel.
