Construcción de la feminidad de Elizabeth Bennet en la novela Orgullo y prejuicio de Jane Austen.

Abstract

The following bibliographical research work is intended to illustrate the answers to the question about the femininity of each woman, taking as reference a literary work: Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. This book was chosen because most of the characters that make up the story are women, and each one evidences in a specific way how they handle what they think a woman should be or do. This work is based on Lacan´s famous phrase "The woman does not exist", since it refers to the fact that there is not one woman that is the Ideal, but rather, each one idealizes what she considers one should be, and in the best of case scenario, she takes from herself what makes her a woman, thus achieving to build her choices of object and enjoyment by using her own fault instead of plugging it. Elizabeth Bennet is the main protagonist of the story, and she takes it upon herself to question what is best for her and what is not, unlike the rest of female characters, who seem to have very clear who they are and what they need. To be a woman, it is necessary to ask what a woman is. The literary work does not directly raise this question, but the purpose of this work is to make a vignette detailing the moments in which Elizabeth was divided between her beliefs and choices and how this led her to understand what she needed to be happy as a woman.
