Abstract: | Introduction: : Premature loss of primary molars refers to early loss of primary teeth. Dental hygiene habits favor the process of dental caries which is the main factor of the premature loss of temporary molars. Objective: To identify the risk factors that cause premature loss of the primary molars in pediatric patients of the dental clinic of the Catholic University of Santiago de Guayaquil. Materials and Methods: A retrospective, case control, descriptive, and cross-sectional study was carried out, the sample consisted of 110 patients. Results: The age of 8 years showed higher risk or premature loss, with 21%, the female gender presented higher risk with 33% and the male gender with 30%. The presence of commitment with 35%. Discussion The dental caries was not treated had higher prevalence in the diagnosis, with a result of 35% pulp commitment, similar to the study Bagińska J. (2014) The prevalence of untreated dental caries in primary dentition in the surveyed population was 14, 1% of children of 5 years. Conclusion: : It is important to implement oral hygiene habits in pediatric patients, in order to avoid the presence of dental caries. |
Description: | Introducción: La pérdida prematura de molares temporales se refiere a la pérdida temprana de los dientes primarios. Los hábitos de higiene dental, favorecen el proceso de caries dental que es el principal factor de la pérdida prematura de molares temporales. Objetivo: Identificar los factores de riesgo causantes de la pérdida prematura de molares temporales, en pacientes pediátricos de la clínica odontológica de la Universidad Católica de Santiago de Guayaquil. Materiales y Métodos: Se realizó un estudio retrospectivo, caso control, descriptivo, y transversal, la muestra estuvo constituida por 110 pacientes Resultados: La edad de 8 años presento mayor riesgo o pérdida prematura, con un 21%, El género femenino presento mayor riesgo con un 33% y el género masculino con un 30%. La presencia de compromiso pulpar con un 35%.Conclusión: Es importante implementar los hábitos de higiene oral en los pacientes pediátricos, para así evitar la presencia de caries dental. |
