Abstract

The present degree work arises from the need to promote constant changes within the university space. The Catholic University of Santiago de Guayaquil saw the need to propose a building that offers various types of activities: academic, commercial and service, that satisfy and improve the quality of life of the university community. The building reflects and proposes an active learning, in which, not only activities that require concentration are carried out, but also social activities to create a quality environment. The open spaces of the building are idealized as intermediate spaces, interior and exterior at the same time, in which can be performed any type of activities, without having a specifc function. From the concept of permeability (level of concurrence of people in a certain place), the zoning and distribution of the different areas of the program is proposed. The permeability in the building is reflected by the lack of walls that allow the spaces to connect physically and visually.
