Legalidad del asilo político de Julian Assange : consecuencias diplomáticas y jurídicas para el Ecuador.

Abstract

The purpose of this research work is to understand the concept of Diplomatic Asylum as a form of protection for those who are considered persecuted politically. In turn, it is based on the legal and diplomatic issues that the Ecuadorian Government acquired as a result of the granting of Asylum to Julian Assange. To develop this research, the legal status of the founder of Wikileaks and its actions during his stay at the Embassy of Ecuador in London was analyzed. Likewise, the Treaties and Conventions that Ecuador has signed and ratified were analyzed in order to reach the conclusion that it is necessary to create new internal regulations and to sign new International Treaties that regulate and strengthen the institution of Asylum in our country. The problem that has been generated has been precisely because of the lack of application and interpretation on the part of our diplomatic authorities.
