Análisis del crecimiento de las Sociedades por Acciones Simplificadas (SAS) en el entorno económico y empresarial en la ciudad de Portoviejo en el año 2024.

Abstract

This study examines the growth of Simplified Joint Stock Companies (SAS) in the city of Portoviejo during 2024, with the purpose of understanding how this corporate structure has integrated into the local economic landscape and what factors have encouraged its adoption among entrepreneurs. A mixed-methods approach was applied to obtain a comprehensive perspective, combining statistical analysis with expert insight. The quantitative phase was based on secondary data obtained from official institutions, including the Superintendence of Companies, the National Institute of Statistics and Census (INEC), the Statistical Business Registry (REEM), and the Central Bank of Ecuador. The analysis revealed a steady increase in SAS incorporations throughout the year, with electronic registration emerging as the predominant method, accounting for 148 new companies in 2024. The standardized incorporation template also appeared as the preferred option due to its simplicity and lower cost. To complement these findings, the qualitative phase included ten semi-structured interviews with experts in corporate law and entrepreneurship. Their perspectives helped deepen the understanding of the advantages that SAS offer in the Ecuadorian context. They highlighted its flexibility, quick processing time, and compatibility with digital procedures as the main reasons for its accelerated adoption. Experts also agreed that SAS reduces entry barriers and promotes business formalization, especially for emerging entrepreneurs. Overall, the results indicate that SAS have become a strategic mechanism for boosting entrepreneurship and stimulating local economic activity in Portoviejo. Their modern design and adaptability to digital systems position them as an effective option for starting businesses in competitive and constantly changing environments.
