Comparación de fuerza de adhesión de tres cementos endodónticos en incisivos inferiores. Estudio in vitro.

Abstract

Introduction: Endodontic sealers play a key role in the success of treatment. Proper adhesion between the sealer, the obturation material such as gutta-percha, and the dentinal walls helps prevent microleakage, avoid reinfection of the canal, and preserve the structural integrity of the treated tooth’s root. Objective: To determine the difference in bond strength among three endodontic sealers in mandibular incisors. And compare the lateral and vertical obturation techniques. Materials and Methods: After collecting 30 mandibular central incisors, they were divided into three groups of 10, each corresponding to one of the three different endodontic sealers (AH Plus, NeoSealer Flo, and MTA-Fillapex). Each group was further subdivided into two subgroups: 5 teeth were obturated using the lateral compaction technique, and 5 using the thermoplasticized technique. Subsequently, a small sample from each tooth was sectioned and subjected to a shear bond strength test using a universal testing machine, which provided the force and resistance values for each sample. Results: Descriptively, AH Plus generally exhibited the highest resistance to displacement, followed by NeoSealer Flo and MTA-Fillapex, irrespective of the obturation technique. AH Plus with lateral (2.682 MPa) and vertical (2.549 MPa) obturation techniques were the only ones to demonstrate values within the clinically acceptable range (2-4 MPa). NeoSealer Flo and MTA-Fillapex, with both techniques, showed values below 2 MPa, considered indicative of deficient adhesion. Although these descriptive differences were observed, statistical analysis (two-way ANOVA) revealed no statistically significant differences in the mean resistance to displacement based on the type of cement (p=0.141), the obturation technique (p=0.917), or the interaction between these two factors (p=0.994). Conclusion: Despite the lack of statistically significant differences, AH Plus was the only cement that consistently demonstrated a clinically acceptable bond strength (above 2 MPa) in mandibular incisors.
