Concordancia entre evaluación clínica y con espectrofotómetro en la toma de color en cerámicas dentales.

Abstract

Introduction: Ceramic veneers are the aesthetic treatment of choice, since they meet the criterion of dental tissue preservation and add properties in terms of morphology, function, biology and aesthetics. Due to trends, color is the property to which patients attribute greater importance, so the development of methods to match the color or create a new one has been essential. Objective: To analyze if there are significant differences in the perception of the color of dental ceramics when chosen by a population of oral rehabilitation dentists and restorative dentistry specialists, with clinical methods and compare with the results yielded by the spectrophotometer. during the semester A-2025. Materials and methods: Quantitative, cross-sectional study with an observational, descriptive and analytical design. A non-probabilistic convenience sampling was applied with 95% confidence and 5% margin of error. The study yielded 151 participants, including dentists, oral rehabilitation specialists, and restorative dentistry specialists from the city of Guayaquil. The questionnaire was structured with closed questions on the Google Forms platform. Results: When comparing the results of the visual guide with those reported by the spectrophotometer, the percentage of accuracy was greater than 80% for the hue dimension in both images, but with decreases of less than 55% in the value and chroma dimensions, with greater discrepancy in chroma. Conclusions: Overall, no consensus of 100% accuracy was observed for any of the characteristics analyzed.
