El deseo de un hijo sano : resignificación del deseo materno en el contexto de la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos Neonatales.

Abstract

The research work entitled The Desire for a Healthy Child: Resignification of Maternal Desire in the Context of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, had the general objective of analyzing the resignification of maternal desire in the context of the hospital stay of a child in the NICU through a qualitative research for a possible clinical approach with mothers in this area. This research was of utmost importance, since it gave an account of the experiences of each mother resulting in the reality they face when having their newborns hospitalized in the NICU. When a woman finds out that she is expecting a baby, she gives it a symbolic place from desire and builds certain expectations, fantasies and ideals around that she hopes to have in the future. These ideals correlate with the image of a healthy child, which in the NICU area is disrupted by the Real of the disease, so the maternal desire will have to be redefined from this experiencia and thus give way to the acceptance of this new reality. The descriptive method was used, as it allowed obtaining necessary and important information about maternal desire and the resignification of desire in mothers with sick neonates in the NICU area.
