Influencia del discurso social en el estado afectivo del adulto mayor institucionalizado en residencias geriátricas.

Abstract

The following research had as its theme “Influence of social discourse on the affective state of the elderly institutionalized in nursing homes”. The importance of this work was to know how the narratives that circulate within society can produce effects on the emotional state of older adults. The objective was to analyze the influence of social discourse on the affective state of older adults institutionalized in nursing homes by means of a qualitative research to determine its incidence. The methodology applied was of qualitative approach, where the method used was descriptive, while for data collection a bibliographic review and a semi-structured interview with professionals working with the population studied were carried out. As a result, the influence of social discourse on the affectivity of older adults was evidenced, due to the fact that symbolic constructions are internalized, which is one of the factors for the prevalence of negative states and feelings; however, a relevant fact was also obtained, and that is that new generations are introducing perceptions that support the participation of older adults in society.
