Cortometraje 2D como aporte a la difusión de la cultura gastronómica ecuatoriana.

Abstract

The great amount of ideas waiting to be told around the world and the constant search of strengthening connections by diffusing said ideas has directed the development of various formats to engage with the public. Through 2D Animation, several stories are brought to life in a singular and vibrant way, becoming difficult to replicate this effect in other formats by reinforcing their communication process in visual, emotional and immersive expression. Consequently, this type of media becomes the most suitable by transcending cultural boundaries and the many values that conform them. In a variety of animated productions, gastronomic representation as a narrative tool achieves the expected impacted from their audience by appealing to their senses and emotions while sharing a story and establishing influence to the viewer. Ecuador, well-known for its vast biodiversity and culinary traditions, faces a challenge due to lack of gastronomic culture appreciation, especially with the younger generations. Therefore, a need for eye-catching content that allows this audience to reconnect with their roots is recognized. The following Degree Project aims to produce a 2D animated short film focused on highlighting the gastronomic richness of Ecuador’s coastal region by choosing a popular dish such as “Encebollado” to allow emotional connection with the viewer and to promote the recognition of Ecuadorian gastronomic identity nationally and internationally. Through a traditional, emotional narrative and a visual design of evocative colors and textures, the goal is to inspire young Ecuadorians to rediscover and value their gastronomic heritage.
