Abstract

Osteoarthritis is a chronic, irreversible degenerative joint disease that develops by causing inflammation and pain in the joints, leading to limited movement and affecting the quality of life of companion animals. There is no defined therapy for pain control due to osteoarthritis, so treatment must be individualized for each patient based on the severity of the clinical signs they present. The Liverpool Osteoarthritis in Dogs (LOAD) is a questionnaire filled out by the owners of dogs with osteoarthritis, which helps assess the severity of the patient's clinical signs. This study compares pre- and post-treatment mobility scores for different pain therapies, where it is observed that therapies including Bedinvetmab, NSAIDs, opioids, and nutraceuticals are the most beneficial and effective. This improvement is correlated with clinical variables of the patient and the home environment where they live, aiming to encompass the risk factors for developing this disease. The results obtained reflected the importance of multimodal therapy, ensuring good analgesia and, consequently, a better quality of life.
