Creación de un arreglo coral para un Andarele tradicional.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to create a choral arrangement in SATB format based on the traditional Afro-Esmeraldeño rhythm andarele, with the aim of contributing to its dissemination and preservation. The research methodology used is qualitative in approach and descriptive in scope, based on the analysis of documents, audiovisual material, and sheet music. This allowed for the identification of the rhythmic, melodic, and harmonic characteristics of andarele, as well as its instrumentation and interpretation style. The data collection instruments employed included audiovisual material analysis, document analysis, and sheet music analysis. The study concluded that adapting andarele to the choral format is possible through the incorporation of specific vocal techniques such as vocal play, vocal percussion, and the use of harmonizations in fourths and sixths. Furthermore, the research highlighted the importance of choral singing in preserving lesser-explored musical traditions, enabling the reinterpretation of Afro-descendant rhythms in new formats. This study not only expands the Ecuadorian choral repertoire but also promotes the recognition of Afro-Esmeraldeño music.
