Abstract

This research addresses the repercussions that arise in the family nucleus when one of its members experiences problematic use of psychotropic substances. The negative effects that this problem has on various aspects of family dynamics are investigated in detail. The research highlights the direct influence of problematic consumption on intra-family communication, trust and generating tensions that affect the emotional stability of the home. It is observed how substance consumption influences interpersonal relationships, generating conflicts in decision-making and weakening family cohesion. Furthermore, the consequences are explored in terms of family responsibilities, evidencing the difficulty in fulfilling roles in the family. The analysis of this study not only identifies the negative impacts on the family unit, but also highlights the need for specific interventions and supports. A deeper understanding of the challenges that families face in this context is proposed, with the aim of developing coping strategies in the intervention. These findings contribute significantly to the knowledge of the factors that affect families in the context of problematic use of psychotropic substances, providing a basis for the implementation of family therapies and support networks.
