Abstract

Child abuse is a serious and complex problem that affects millions of children in the Andean Region. With the aim of addressing this issue, a qualitative investigation was carried out through documentary analysis of 24 articles from the last five years. The study focused on reviewing the existing scientific literature on the different forms of child abuse in the Andean Region, using a bibliographic matrix and a content analysis matrix to obtain the results. The results obtained indicate that the definitions of child abuse, it was observed that there are coincidences in the countries of Venezuela, Colombia and Bolivia that use the definition of the World Health Organization. Physical abuse is the most common form of child abuse in the countries of the Andean Region, followed by emotional abuse. Furthermore, it was found that the sociocultural factor is an important element that affects child abuse, since many parents believe that physical aggression is a method to correct their children's behavior and make them more obedient. In conclusion, the results obtained in this research can help to better understand the problem of child abuse in the Andean Region and to develop effective strategies to prevent and address it appropriately.
