Abstract

This investigative project is carried out in the context of artisanal mining in the upper part of the province of El Oro, specifically in the cantons of Portovelo and Zaruma, which are supported by economically from artisanal mining, but without a doubt, it is important to reduce pollution, which occurs, 1) due to the non-use of mineral concentrate; 2) the lack of strategies for the correct commercialization of the mineral concentrate abroad; 3) the need to create actions that make adequate use of the tailings and generate income for the economy. In the case of Zaruma, sinkholes have occurred for years, damaging the natural environment. In relation to the methodology, it was carried out using the qualitative approach, with a cross-sectional, descriptive and correlational design, as an instrument the unstructured interview was applied, because it allows the researcher to orient himself in deepening the research topic, regarding marketing and practice. of artisanal mining. As a sample, information is collected from professionals in various branches that are related to or directly involved in the environment of the artisanal miner in the area. The results allow us to analyze that it is necessary to improve the marketing strategies, being necessary to use the competitive advantage, also highlighting that there are still no short or long-term solutions or the mining fill in towns that are surrounded by tunnels because of the artisanal miner. For this reason, it is recommended to reduce the wastage of the mineral concentrate and tailings because they often go to the rivers and this increases pollution.
