Impacto de las medidas gubernamentales en la pandemia Covid-19 en Ecuador en el sector exportador de flores. Periodo 2020-2021.

Abstract

Flower exportations in Ecuador play a fundamental role for the economy since they are the fourth most important non-oil exportable product, it also generates a lot of income for the country. In 2020 the decrease in this sector was visible, which lead to increase the interest in investigating why the sector was affected. The main objective of this research is to analyze the impact of government policies on COVID-19 pandemic in the flower export sector, for this it is suggested that these policies adopted to stop the growth of COVID-19, that were the main factor of flower exportations falls in Ecuador between 2020 and 2021. Among the main results it was found that some of the policies were imposed by the government, affected exportations, but not all of these were responsible for the decrease in flower exportations given that multiple evaluations indicate that it depends on other external factors.
