Tratado de libre comercio entre Ecuador y EEUU : su impacto en las Pymes del sector pesquero de la ciudad de Guayaquil.

Abstract

Since the signing of a First Phase Agreement between Ecuador and the United States in December 2020, the development of a new commercialization stage between both countries is expected. With this stage, Ecuador expects to give way to the signing of a Free Trade Agreement. The objective of this research is to analyze the impact of the signing of a free trade agreement between the two countries to increase exports of SMEs in the fishing sector of the city of Guayaquil to the American market. A hypothesis has been proposed to determine whether the existence of a free trade agreement would increase exports of SMEs in this sector. The five most imported Ecuadorian fishery products by the United States were selected, such as: frozen fish, fish fillet and other fish meat, fresh or refrigerated fish, crustaceans, mollusks fit for human consumption including smoked, with or without shells, live, fresh, refrigerated. As part of the selected sample, surveys were conducted with the sector's businessmen, and the ARMA statistical model was used to validate the hypothesis based on the future trends of these exports.
