Estrés, sentimientos y actitudes del médico veterinario por el ejercicio de su profesión en la ciudad de Guayaquil.

Abstract

The Veterinarian is exposed to a series of factors in his work that can affect his mental and emotional health. The problem has not been adequately addressed and thus the need for psychological care for professionals and the low interest that exists by the community regarding this reality increases. The objective of this research was to assess stress through the application of 4 questionnaires: Test “Maslach Burnout Inventory”; Test “Perceived Stress Scale”, stress factors and the Organizational Climate of the Veterinarian; who practice their profession in the city of Guayaquil. The instruments were subjected to the Validity (five experts) and reliability evaluation. A total of 93 respondents were obtained, considered as independent replicas. Subsequently, a hypothesis test (Chi square) was carried out where it was evaluated if there is a relationship between gender, age, positions and workplace with the different questionnaires. Regarding the validity evaluation, all the items showed values greater than 0.58 and in reliability all the Cronbach's Alpha values were greater than 0.70, showing to be valid and reliable to be used as a measurement instrument. It was concluded that the Veterinary Doctors of the city of Guayaquil are exposed to risk factors of an emotional nature during the exercise of their careers that can lead them to suffer from serious stress problems.
