Evaluación del programa de seguridad del paciente en el Hospital del Niño Dr. Francisco de Icaza Bustamante, de la ciudad de Guayaquil.

Abstract

The rate of adverse events can be reflected with timely notification and could be reduced through a fully implemented patient safety program, for which this project has the general objective of evaluating the application of the Patient Safety Program at the HFIB and preparing a proposal for improvement. The study is quantitative, descriptive and cross-sectional. In the data collection, figures from the Quality area reports were analyzed during the years 2018 and 2019; The results reflect that of the 17 safe practices established by the Health Authority in Ecuador, 100% (17) have a document prepared, 33% (4) are not implemented or have a checklist, 38% (9) do not have compliance assessment. It is concluded that the Hospital does not have a fully implemented Patient-User Safety Program, nor measurement tools that allow the performance of all Safe Practices to be controlled, for which reason an improvement plan is proposed that includes the implementation of all the safe practices applicable to the Hospital and the creation and application of checklists, to assess in a timely and complete manner, thereby preventing adverse events.
