Abstract

In Durán, school desertion reaches high percentages from the age of 5 years old and grows among older age, without having a place where these people can access free information as in a public library. In addition, there is a lack of public spaces and recreation for the number of population. This architectural project is divided into blocks of different heights and uses, generating movement and voids, but at the same time these are related by public spaces with green areas that become extensions of the park that can be toured and protected against climate conditions. In this way the people who circulate or use these internal public spaces, are attracted to enter the library and see everything that it can offer them. With this proposal the approach and interaction of people with the library is achieved, fostering self-taught education, increasing public spaces and green areas of the sector, maintaining a formal relationship with the existing urban profle, and coupling with the surrounding park.
